FAQs
Why are Shirudo AGR+E and Sol+3 the best options to prevent Polymorphous Light Eruption?
Shirudo AGR+E and Shirudo SOL+3 are among the most effective and practical PMLE solutions available, especially compared with strategies that require weeks of preparation or lifestyle changes that many people simply can’t maintain.
Why Shirudo stands out in real life:
- Works without advance loading or preparation
- Targets the oxidative trigger of PMLE directly
- Topical = fast, localized, predictable
- Easy to integrate under your favorite sunscreen
- Useful for sudden sun exposure, travel, or unpredictable weather
- Very high adherence compared to supplements, photo-therapy or “hardening”
For many PMLE sufferers, Shirudo is the difference between managing PMLE in theory vs actually living normally in the sun.
What is the difference between AGR+E and Sol+3?
Sol+3 is a newer formulation and can be used alone while sun exposed. It uses different and more powerful antioxidants than AGR+E and also combines UVA and UVB filters. It's a one-step process, you don't have to apply sunscreen after. We found that having only one product makes it easier to comply with frequent applications, a key factor for our products to be effective. It is also more off-white/pale yellow than pure yellow, as the original AGR+E lotion. Unless you swim all day, Sol+3 is a great option and easier to use. The downside is that is it not waterproof.
If you plan to spend a lot of time in the water, it's best to go with AGR+E lotion and a fully waterproof sunscreen on top. So far people who used our original AGR+E lotion had great success with the new Sol+3 formulation as well. A great solution is using Sol+3 in the daytime while sun-exposed and AGR+E Intensive Night Lotion at night. This way you are covered with 5 different types of antioxidants, including alpha-glucosylrutin that made the success of the original AGR+E formulation.
AGR+E plus your favorite sunscreen and AGR+E Intensive Night Lotion at night is the option to go with if you plan to spend a lot of time in the water or if you have a specific sunscreen you prefer to use, like a mineral sunscreen with zinc for example, or a facial sunscreen using less comedogenic ingredients. With this option, you use AGR+E while sun-exposed, massage well, and then apply your sunscreen on top. It's a two steps process. Both options are equally good, it depends on your daily activities and sunscreen personal preferences.
